Prescreen:
• Describe a project you worked on involving the integration of SW & embedded HW/FW components, particularly in audio if applicable. What were the key technical challenges you faced, including any related to C++ or firmware, and how did you address them?
System Integration Engineer
This team is responsible for delivering top quality & seamless audio experiences on ear buds and accessories. This involves ensuring robust integration of core audio functionalities, embedded FW, & SW components, often leveraging C++, in order to create innovative/reliable user experiences.
Scope:
• Debug & triage incoming integration issues reported during development & testing of ear buds features, including issues related to embedded audio FW.
• Identify root causes of integration problems, implement bug fixes (C++/Communication protocols/proto definition, etc.), & contribute to the development & maintenance of test automation frameworks.
• Develop/maintain automated tools & scripts (potentially using Python to interact with C++ based systems) to simplify manual testing processes & improve integration efficiency.
• Contribute to the development/maintenance of project dashboards to track integration progress and identify potential roadblocks.
Required:
• Degree in Computer Science or similar, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of industry experience in technical support, professional services, engineering, sustaining engineering, or systems engineering, with significant experience in embedded systems or consumer electronics, particularly in audio.
• Strong experience in C++ is required
• Strong understanding of embedded RTOS & experience with debugging/troubleshooting in this environment, including debugging embedded FW.
• Scripting in Python, etc. for automation & system administration tasks.
• Solid problem-solving/analytical skills and able to diagnose/resolve complex technical issues, including those at the FW level.
Pluses:
• Experience with source control systems – Git, Perforce, Gerrit, etc.
• Solid foundation in Python, Android, & Google internal infrastructure.
• Experience with test automation frameworks & methodologies.
• Experience with issue tracking & project management tools.
• Familiarity with the Pigweed embedded framework
