The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) is the leading economic development agency for Singapore's tourism sector. It aims to differentiate Singapore as a destination, delivering on its promise to provide a concentration of multi-faceted and user-centric travel experiences, as well as positioning Singapore as a future-facing and inspiring destination.
What the role is
As an intern at STB's New York office, you will support our Investment Promotion function to pursue and engage with compelling tourism concepts from across the Americas for Singapore. This includes hotels, attractions, entertainment, and lifestyle concepts (dining, retail, wellness), among others. You will assist in research and engagements with investors, owners, brands, and developers, with the longer-term view of enhancing Singapore's tourism product offerings.
You will support the development and execution of market research and analysis to identify potential investment opportunities, while helping to establish relationships with key stakeholders in the North American market. This role offers hands-on experience in international business development and tourism investment promotion.
You will be mentored by experienced STB officers and gain valuable insights into Singapore's tourism industry and international business development. This internship will include orientation, dedicated mentorship, and on-the-job training.
What you will be working on
Key responsibilities include (not exhaustive):
• Conduct research and analysis on emerging tourism trends, hospitality concepts, and lifestyle brands across the Americas
• Support the preparation of business presentations and proposals for potential investors and stakeholders
• Help organize and coordinate business meetings and investment networking events
• Contribute to regular market intelligence reports on North American tourism landscape
• Support the analysis of potential investment opportunities across various sectors (hotels, attractions, F&B, retail, wellness)
• Support administrative tasks related to investment promotion activities, and assist in tracking and reporting on project progress and outcomes
• Additionally, support the team's digital marketing functions including content creation, social media management, and marketing communications on a needs basis
What we are looking for
• Must be an undergraduate student who has completed at least one year of study at a local or overseas university
• Good academic results and strong record of university activities
• Excellent analytical and research capabilities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint and Excel
• Interest in international business development and tourism industry
• Familiarity with US capital markets and real estate investment environment will be a plus
• Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple projects
• Driven Team player with positive attitude and progressive thinking
• Available for a minimum 10-week programme duration
• Based in New York City for the duration of internship
