Job Title: Live Animals Caretaker
Location: Pangea Reptile Zeeland, Michigan (On-site)
Pay: $16/hr
Schedule: Monday Friday 8a-4
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports to: Operations Manager

Position Summary:
As a Live Animals Caretaker, youll be a key member of our Live Animals Team, supporting the daily care, health, and wellbeing of our reptiles and invertebrates. This is a hands-on role requiring a high level of responsibility, attention to detail, and a willingness to get your hands dirty. While previous animal care experience is a plus, were happy to train the right individual who is dependable, motivated, and ready to learn.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve reptile diets; maintain accurate feeding and health records.
- Physically inspect reptiles and invertebrates and monitor for behavioral or health changes.
- Clean and disinfect animal and invertebrate enclosures/habitats.
- Set up and stage enclosures with appropriate decor, hides, and equipment.
- Maintain washroom operations, clean equipment, and care tools.
- Weigh and track gecko progress based on established protocols.
- Assist with the general maintenance, organization, and cleanliness of the care areas.
- Pick and pack reptiles and invertebrates for expos, Palmstreet shipments, customer orders, and other outgoing deliveries.
- Feed, clean, and maintain invertebrate enclosures and colonies.
Note: Responsibilities may change over time as business needs evolve. Flexibility and a willingness to adapt are essential.
Cross-Department Support: From time to time, you may be asked to assist in other departments within Pangea to help meet company goals and operational demands.

- Reliable, proactive, and detail-oriented individual.
- Comfortable handling both reptiles and invertebrates.
- Strong observational skills with a patient and calm demeanor.
- Able to perform repetitive tasks efficiently and accurately.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Willingness to ask for help and accept constructive feedback.
- Capable of reading, writing, and performing basic math tasks.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in animal or invertebrate care is preferred but not required.
- Must be able to work some weekends and holidays.
- Ability to adapt to changing responsibilities and departmental needs.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stair climbing required.
- Exposure to varied temperatures, animal products, cleaning agents, and noise.
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
