Position: Director of Natural Gas Trading & Strategy

Salary: Up to 250K (Negotiable BOE)

Company Overview:

We are an energy trading and infrastructure development platform operating under a global energy group. Our core strengths include petroleum product trading, renewable diesel, and utility-scale solar project development. As part of our North American growth strategy, we are launching a natural gas trading business and leveraging it as a foundation for integrated energy value chain expansion—including gas-fired generation, hybrid power solutions, and low-carbon fuels.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced leader to establish our natural gas trading operations and explore broader gas-linked business opportunities. The ideal candidate will combine deep expertise in U.S. gas markets with a strategic vision for extending the gas platform into adjacent sectors such as power generation, gas logistics, distributed energy, hydrogen, and renewable natural gas (RNG). This role requires a blend of commercial acumen, trading discipline, and business development capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Trading Operations & Risk Management

Launch and operate a physical and financial natural gas trading desk using the company’s existing petroleum trading platform and infrastructure.

Develop risk-controlled trading strategies focused on liquidity hubs (e.g., Henry Hub, AECO, Waha) and regional opportunities.

Oversee nominations, scheduling, balancing, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal risk protocols.

2. Integrated Energy Business Development

Identify and evaluate investment or partnership opportunities across the natural gas value chain, including:

Gas-fired power generation

Wholesale marketing and midstream infrastructure (e.g., pipelines, storage)

Retail gas supply and distributed energy models

O&M and energy service businesses

Leverage existing minority investments in power assets and in-house solar development capabilities.

3. Low-Carbon Fuels & Hydrogen Strategy (Mid-Term)

Support feasibility assessments and early-stage initiatives around:

Blue / Turquoise hydrogen production using gas and electricity

Downstream derivative products: low-carbon synthetic fuels, lubricants, and chemicals

RNG procurement and trading linked to decarbonization markets

4. Strategic Platform Building

Coordinate internal and external stakeholders to expand the trading, risk, and operational platform (ETRM, compliance, deal execution).

Represent the company in strategic industry engagements, JVs, or government-linked initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

7–10+ years of experience in North American natural gas markets, with a core background in physical or financial trading.

Strong commercial and technical understanding of the full gas value chain (including transport, storage, generation, and wholesale).

Demonstrated ability to originate and structure energy business opportunities beyond trading (e.g., infrastructure, supply agreements, JV structuring).

Entrepreneurial mindset with capacity to scale a new business line within an evolving corporate structure.

Strong analytical, negotiation, and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior exposure to:

Hybrid generation projects (solar + gas)

Hydrogen value chain (especially blue / turquoise hydrogen)

RNG markets and credit mechanisms (LCFS, RFS, etc.)

Power markets (e.g., ERCOT, CAISO)

Familiarity with energy transition policy frameworks (e.g., IRA, state-level clean energy mandates)

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Energy, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.

MBA or a relevant graduate degree is a plus. ​]]><
