We are looking for an experienced Senior Construction Accountant to join our client in East Wake County. This Contract-to-Permanent position is ideal for a financial expert with expertise in construction accounting and project-based financial management. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with project managers and subcontractors to ensure accurate financial reporting and cost control.

Responsibilities:

• Manage comprehensive accounting processes, including general ledger reconciliations, complex journal entries, and cash flow forecasting.

• Oversee job costing, track cost-to-complete metrics, and manage project closeout procedures.

• Prepare and present financial statements, fluctuation analyses, and month-end/year-end close reports.

• Collaborate with project managers and subcontractors to ensure accurate billing, budgeting, and forecasting.

• Develop audit schedules, support compliance requirements, and assist with external audit procedures.

• Lead system implementations and upgrades, including the integration of Earned Value Management tools.

• Conduct variance analyses and prepare ad hoc financial reports for leadership and project teams.

• Reconcile bank statements, monitor depreciation schedules, and maintain robust internal controls.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• CPA eligibility or active pursuit of certification is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in construction or project accounting.
• Proficiency in construction-specific accounting software such as JD Edwards, Foundation, B2W, and Microsoft Dynamics.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and internal controls.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to perform detailed financial analyses and reporting.
• Familiarity with commercial construction projects and related financial processes.
