Our client, a top-tier Am Law 100 firm , is seeking a Senior Associate Attorney to join its prestigious Litigation & Trial Practice group with a focus on International Trade . This is an exciting opportunity for a mid- to senior-level attorney to work at the intersection of global commerce, national security, and regulatory enforcement.

The firm’s International Trade Practice is nationally recognized and offers sophisticated representation to a diverse range of clients—from Fortune 500 companies to government agencies—in trade disputes, compliance matters, and high-stakes regulatory actions. The team regularly advises clients on sensitive cross-border transactions, trade litigation, and policy issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in trade litigation matters including antidumping (AD), countervailing duty (CVD), and global safeguard investigations before the U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. International Trade Commission, and federal courts
  • Provide counsel on customs law , import compliance, tariff classification, valuation, and country-of-origin determinations
  • Advise on export controls and economic sanctions under EAR, ITAR, and OFAC regulations
  • Support clients with Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) reviews and related national security regulatory filings
  • Draft memoranda, legal opinions, and compliance policies related to U.S. trade laws and global trade regulations
  • Assist with internal investigations and compliance audits involving multinational corporations
  • Mentor junior associates and support business development activities where appropriate

Required Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials
  • Admission to the D.C. Bar (or ability to waive in)
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in international trade law within a law firm, government agency, or corporate in-house role
  • Demonstrated experience with trade remedies (AD/CVD) , customs compliance , and export control regulations
  • Outstanding legal research, writing, and advocacy skills
  • Ability to manage multiple complex matters across jurisdictions and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience handling CFIUS filings and national security-related trade issues
  • Familiarity with international arbitration or WTO proceedings is a plus
  • Foreign language proficiency or prior work with multinational clients preferred
  • Previous experience at U.S. Department of Commerce, ITC, or Treasury (OFAC) valued but not required

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Base salary: $365,000 to $435,000 (commensurate with experience)
  • Bonus: Performance-based year-end bonus and potential signing bonus
