Job Title: Registered Nurse Reports To: Practice Manager Position Summary As a Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting physicians in all aspects of medical treatment. Your responsibilities include preparing patients for exams, administering medications, assisting with procedures, and performing necessary lab work. Additionally, you will serve as a patient coach, offering guidance on wellness topics such as weight management, nutrition, exercise, stress reduction, smoking cessation, and overall health. Working closely with physicians, you will help implement disease management and coaching plans to support long-term patient health. Key Responsibilities Patient Care & Clinical Support Provide professional nursing care and administer medications and treatments in alignment with best practices. Prepare exam rooms, ensure necessary supplies and equipment are available, and assist physicians during exams and procedures. Facilitate a smooth patient flow by prioritizing emergency cases and minimizing wait times. Greet and prepare patients for exams, obtain medical history, take vital signs, and collect lab specimens as needed. Coordinate referrals and pre-authorizations to ensure seamless patient care. Patient Communication & Education Maintain and update patient records, including test results, treatment plans, and physician instructions. Communicate test results and physician recommendations to patients, providing guidance on next steps. Offer patient education on topics such as medication use, disease management, and home care techniques (e.g., insulin administration, blood pressure monitoring). Serve as a health and wellness coach, guiding patients individually or in small groups on healthy lifestyle choices. Administrative & Operational Duties Conduct pre-appointment patient outreach and return calls promptly. Record patient attendance and appointment details in the electronic medical record (EMR) system. Track patient progress and follow up with those enrolled in health and wellness programs. Maintain an organized follow-up system for critical patient cases (e.g., abnormal test results). Keep exam rooms clean and stocked, following infection control and OSHA guidelines. Assist with ordering and inventory management of medical supplies and medications. Qualifications & Skills Graduate of an accredited nursing program; current Indiana RN license required . Minimum of one year of nursing experience (medical office experience preferred). Wellness Coach Certification preferred . Strong knowledge of nursing best practices, safety protocols, and medical equipment. Ability to educate and motivate patients toward healthier lifestyle choices. Strong analytical skills to assess patient conditions and interpret medical data. Experience with venipuncture and EKG administration. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with patients, families, and healthcare teams. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and multitask in a fast-paced environment. Work Environment & Physical Demands Clinical setting with exposure to infectious diseases, bodily fluids, and medical equipment. Requires physical stamina to stand for extended periods, push wheelchairs, lift up to 50 lbs, and assist patients safely (max of 35 lbs without assistance). Must maintain required certifications, including BCLS (CPR) and any department-specific credentials .
