Job Description

Blue Star Properties is a Chicago-based commercial real estate firm recognized for its transformative work in acquiring and revitalizing urban retail, office, and hospitality properties across the city. With a growing portfolio of entertainment venues, restaurants, and mixed-use developments, we are looking to expand our team to support an exciting pipeline of upcoming projects.

We are currently seeking a talented and motivated Interior Design Professional to join our in-house design team. This role will play a key part in the design and execution of commercial and hospitality environments throughout Chicago.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of professional interior design experience, ideally with a focus on hospitality or residential spaces. Candidate must be organized, creative, tech-savvy, and thrive in both collaborative and independent work environments. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited institution
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Photoshop; familiarity with Sketchup, Illustrator, & InDesign is a plus
  • Strong ability to develop and produce technical drawings, including floor plans, RCPs, interior elevations, millwork details, and finish schedules.
  • Excellent graphic, verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Broad knowledge base of furniture, lighting, acoustics, finishes, materials, color selections and other FF&E product specifications.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously

Role Responsibilities:

  • Thoughtfully plan interior spaces
  • Survey and draw existing site conditions and develop as-built drawings
  • Prepare presentations for team members to understand design concepts
  • Manage project budgets with construction team, providing ideas for value engineering as necessary
  • Oversee procurement and logistics for furniture and materials to align with overall project schedules
  • Consult with subcontractors, vendors, and fabricators and secure appropriate proposals
  • Participate in construction administration tasks and regular site visits
  • Help build and maintain our internal design library
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and maintain professional relationships
  • Contribute to a variety of other tasks as needed to support project execution

Job Type: Full-time, salaried, 40+ hours/weekly

Salary Range: $80K - $90K / Yearly

Location : Office is located at 600 W Van Buren, with travel to project sites across Chicago
