"We are seeking an American Sign Language Interpreter for a 42-weeks travel/contract assignment in Federal Way, WA 98003. Both local and traveler candidates are welcome to apply."

Job Details:

• Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

• Guaranteed Hours: 32 40 hours per week

• Pay Rate: $43 - $47/hr

Responsibilities:

• Accurately interpret spoken English into ASL and ASL into spoken English.
• Provide interpreting services in classrooms, assemblies, meetings, and school-related activities.
• Support student understanding and participation in educational settings.
• Collaborate with educators and staff to ensure effective communication.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards.
• Modify interpreting techniques based on student needs and educational goals.
• Adhere to the Code of Professional Conduct set by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID).

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Certification through RID or equivalent (required).
• Proficiency in American Sign Language and English.
• Minimum 1 to 2 years of professional ASL interpreting experience. (Required)
• Experience in an educational setting.
• Knowledge of Deaf culture and interpreting protocols.

Travel & Local Considerations:

• Candidates outside a 50-mile radius qualify for travel pay.
