Job Description
Responsibilities
The EHSO is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the General Contractor's EHS activities on NYCDEP projects. The EHDSO will review/monitor contractor activities for compliance with DEP's EHS Policies and procedures, BEDC EHSD Standards, and all Federal, State, City and local regulations and requirements. The EHSO will report to the Resident Engineer. Prepares daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
Preferred Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health or equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant experience.
Certifications:
Certified Safety & Health Technician (CHST) of ASP (American Safety Professional)
OSHA-30 hour Construction Safety Certification
OSHA-Authorized Construction Outreach (OSHA/500/502)
40-hr. Hazwopper
Asbestos Awareness
Lead Paint Awareness
OSHA Permit Confined Space
RCRA in Day-to-Day Operations
First Aid/CPR
Qualifications
10 years of experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety at construction sites, preferably Heavy Civil and Utility. Ability to recognize unsafe conditions and behaviors and implement corrective measures. Evaluates situations and renders appropriate decisions without the need for immediate supervision. Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations. Effectively able to influence others and work collaboratively to accomplish goals. Previous experience working with and preparing Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
Experience at NYCDEP project sites is a strong plus.
