For nearly fifty years, Gaston & Wyatt has quietly built a reputation as one of the country’s leading providers of architectural millwork, windows, doors, and other products from our home in Charlottesville, VA. Our award-winning work around the country has been featured in numerous national publications such as Architectural Digest, Veranda, and House Beautiful. We are now seeking an entry-level cabinet finisher to join our growing team.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Sanding, prepping, and staining for a wide range of wood products.
  • Assist with maintaining DEQ records and ensuring proper safety procedures are followed.
  • Clean and maintain equipment and work area in the finishing department.
  • Ensure a quality product is prepped before sending it to the next step in the finishing process.
  • Organize and maintain the sanding area's tools and equipment.
  • Assist finishers in meeting daily production requirements. Requirements while maintaining consistently high-quality product standards. This may involve assisting in larger projects or sanding and staining projects independently.
  • Perform special projects and complete all other duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must maintain a high degree of personal and environmental safety, including properly handling paints and solvents and wearing masks, earplugs, and other devices essential to protect your safety.
  • Must tolerate working in an environment with fumes, noise, dust, and other elements necessary for a finishing operation.
  • Interact professionally with both internal and external customers.
  • Excellent attitude and communication skills.
  • Willing to learn and accept new challenges.
  • Keen eye for fine detail.
  • Understand proper sanding techniques and the use of orbital hand-held sanders.
  • Able to adapt to changing priorities and deal with stressful situations.
  • Production-oriented in approach and ability to plan and meet deadlines.

Physical Requirements & Work Demands:

  • This position will require you to work in a non-climate-controlled shop environment.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, climb, bend, kneel, squat, and climb ladders to access all parts that need sanding.
  • Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. consistently and 75 lbs. occasionally.
