DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Digital Organizer is a member of the team that is leading the organizing and campaign work for gig workers in the digital space. This involves managing the gig worker campaign's digital channels and using our outreach tools to engage drivers and motivate them to take action. To effectively connect with ride-hail drivers, the Digital Organizer needs to have strong online skills and solid organizing experience. They will collaborate closely with other organizers to smoothly integrate online and offline organizing, engaging workers through digital, phone, and in-person communication. The Digital Organizer will be responsible for supporting the campaign's work and conducting extensive outreach to workers through digital channels. Responsibilities include:
Developing and executing digital organizing strategies that encompass both online and offline organizing tactics (including apps, building virtual communities, digital ads, mass email and texting, social media, and distributed organizing) to meet campaign goals.
Identifying and developing worker leaders who can educate and motivate other drivers to take action.
Originating and implementing digital outreach to individual workers and groups of workers to take collective public action.
Designing, writing, and managing mass texts, p2p, and email campaigns, including digital engagement forms and online actions.
Creating and managing a social media content calendar.
Content creation and community management for the campaign’s social media platforms.
Provide digital support and expertise to the organizing team to recruit and engage members, manage a network of Whatsapp and other online communities, and ensure an online-to-offline digital pipeline.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
While no one candidate will possess every quality outlined for this position, the successful candidate will bring many of the following professional skills and personal attributes.
At least two years of digital organizing experience (4+ for Senior Digital Organizer consideration).
Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred.
Experience building successful digital engagement programs, including growing and sustaining healthy online communities.
Experience in growing and managing large-scale email and SMS and peer-to-peer texting programs. This includes designing a ladder of engagement, implementing welcome and re-engagement tactics, and integrating online advertising for maximum reach and impact.
High level of proficiency with digital engagement media channels, including:
P2P text platforms, Action Network/Action Builder or similar programs
Proficiency with digital advertising, especially lead acquisition using Meta Business Suite
Proficiency with Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, WhatsApp, YouTube, and Twitter
Basic video editing and design skills.
Expertise in evaluating and analyzing digital campaigns, engagement pathways, and acquisition investments, including running A/B tests on messaging and tactics, ensuring the health and growth of the digital file.
Demonstrated ability to implement digital organizing plans, track/monitor/assess progress, troubleshoot and adapt as needed.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment and independently with internal and external stakeholders, and with diverse staff, partners, and vendors.
Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and optimism.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position is full time, and occasionally requires long and irregular hours, including some nights, weekends and holidays.
This role is based out of Boston, or the following locations: New York, New England, New Jersey, Philadelphia, DC, Pittsburgh, with frequent travel to Massachusetts.
Location & Travel: Regular travel required to our Massachusetts office from whichever Northeast location is the candidate's home base.
Participation in public actions is required.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
The salary for this role is $70,000 - $90,000, depending on experience. 32BJ offers a full benefits package that includes a fully employer-paid medical, dental and vision plan, for full-time employees and their qualified dependents. We offer retirement benefits, including both a defined benefit pension plan and 401K. The Union currently offers a remote work policy of one remote day per week at the discretion of the manager.
