Job Description

The Azure Presales Engineer is an early-to-mid-level career role that bridges the gap between business needs and technical execution, supporting our sales and delivery teams with solution architecture, scoping, and client engagement. The ideal candidate is a confident communicator, a skilled technologist, and a consultative problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Engage directly with prospective clients alongside sales and executive leadership to assess business and technical needs and shape cloud solution offerings using Microsoft Azure.
  • Design and present Azure-based architectures for client workloads including infrastructure modernization, cloud migrations, application replatforming, and data analytics solutions.
  • Create presales deliverables including technical assessments, solution briefs, proposal content, statements of work (SOWs), and project estimates.
  • Own the technical win by building trust with client stakeholders, clearly articulating our proposed solutions, and differentiating Eastwall’s value.
  • Collaborate with delivery teams to validate solution feasibility, document assumptions, and ensure presales solutions align with post-sales execution.
  • Support RFP and procurement processes by contributing architecture diagrams, work plans, timelines, and written responses.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, supporting a dozen or more concurrent opportunities at any given time.
  • Stay current on Azure services and Microsoft partner incentives, incorporating best practices and funding opportunities into proposals.
  • Participate in early project transitions from sales to delivery, including solution walkthroughs and knowledge handoff.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience in Azure cloud solutions such as Infrastructure (Networking, Virtual Machines, Azure Migrate, VDI), Application Modernization (App Services, Azure DevOps, Kubernetes, CI/CD practices), and Data services (Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Fabric, Warehousing). Candidates without direct technical experience on Azure should not apply.
  • Any experience with presales responsibilities related to proposal development, solution architecture, statement of work authoring, and co-owning of technical sales pipeline with a direct sales team is preferred, but not required. You will be trained on the job for this role.
  • Experience in a consultative role or engineering role working with multiple clients concurrently at any given time is required. Candidates without consulting or professional services experience should not apply.
  • Direct channel sales experience with Microsoft is preferred but not required.
  • Experience supporting production applications or workloads, being able to performance test and troubleshoot related issues.
  • Experience with other public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Oracle) is beneficial, but not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing & PowerPoint presentations. Candidates will conduct a panel interview that vets technical presentation skills.

Expectations

New hires in this role may be required to complete one or more of the below certifications within the first 3-to-6 months of hire (paid for in full by Eastwall):

  • Microsoft Exam AZ-305: Azure Solution Architect
  • Microsoft Exam AZ-140: Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty
  • Microsoft Exam DP-300: Azure Database Administrator Associate

This is a client-facing, heavily technical management consulting role that involves day-to-day client interaction in presales and delivery, with up to 50% billable utilization.

This role will travel within the continental United States up to 20%, at times monthly.
